This article seems more of a frustrated developer who pours out his hatred of bootcamps than advices about “being a skilled developer". The profession should just stop with this bad elitism. No the world don’t need highly skilled developers only, but more developers in short. And this kind of article woudn’t help with this at all.
Just like developing is not only about code, bootcamps are not only about code either. For most of them it’s about learning new fields with peers who are struggling just like you. Depending on the bootcamp you can learn so much more than just coding.
And yes, you don’t become a fully skilled developer in 3 or 6 month, but you don’t either by practicing very abstract algorithms in a year of computer science degree or even worst, trying to learn a random language on the internet by just pushing projects on Github as you may say.
Just like any other skill, becoming a great developer require time, passion and to practice over various context. And this is not a matter of where you start. This is a matter of being passionate about developing, practicing and making your best to geting better at it everyday. So who care if you started from a bootcamp or from a fancy CS degree unless you’re passionate and you’re bringing value?
